Straight answers
Inverter or UPS?
A home inverter with a tall battery suits long backup for fans and lights. A UPS suits short backup for computers and electronics that must not switch off abruptly.
Look after the battery
Flooded batteries need distilled water topped up from time to time. Keep the battery ventilated and off damp floors, and keep the terminals clean.
Keep heavy loads off it
Air conditioners, geysers, irons and heaters draw too much for a standard home inverter. Leave them on the mains circuit.

How long will my inverter run?
It depends on the total wattage you connect and the battery capacity. Tell us what you want to run and we will give you a realistic estimate.
Can an inverter run my AC?
Not a standard home inverter. Running an AC on battery needs a much larger system. We usually advise leaving it off the backup circuit.
My battery drains quickly. Do I replace the battery or the inverter?
Often it is the battery, but we test both before recommending anything. Loose terminals and an overloaded backup circuit can look like a weak battery.
